(May 18, 2013 – The Wilkes – Yadkin Home Builders Association's 3rd annual Yard sale to benefit Samaritan Kitchen has raised another $2400.00 for the group's food distribution efforts. The event was held again at Sedgewick Homes near Hamptonille on May 18th. The money was presented to Samaritan Kitchen director Julie Smith at an HBA Board of Directors meeting. "We're always so grateful to be able to pull off this kind of success" said Arlo Barzee, the local Wilkes – Yadkin HBA president. "We've now been able to contribute in excess of $7,500 cash over these three yard sales, and we thank all who volunteered, donated, and contributed in lots of ways".
In dozens of instances, shoppers gave more than the original 'asking price', or simply said to keep the change. And while seemingly tons and tons of stuff was bought and carted away…there were still plenty of leftover items — enough to spread out with large donations of items to The Goodwill Store, Ebenezers Attic, and The ReStore/Habitat for Humanity.
100% of proceeds to Samaritan Kitchen!
HBA members and others are invited to continue donations of canned goods (nothing frozen) and other non-perishable items, and other household supplies (toothpaste, toothbrushes, toiletries) you would purchase for your family may be dropped off directly at Samaritan Kitchen (now at the former Wilkes Telephone Exchange Building, 4187 W Hwy 421, Wilkesboro)
A community project of your Wilkes/Yadkin HBA.
